A Harmonious Jungle

A Harmonious Jungle, Unipessoal Lda. began operating on 14 April 2021. It is based in Castelo Branco, Portugal, and is the entity responsible for promoting and implementing the Regeneration of the Ecosystems at Vale da Esteva – REVE.

REVE is a sustainability project, which aims to restore and revitalise ecosystems and create a positive impact on the environment.

Regenerative agriculture, reforestation, wetland restoration, sustainable tourism, and green infrastructure are just a few of the areas covered by REVE.

REVE is being implemented in Vale da Esteva , an estate which is only 11 km away from the city of Castelo Branco.

Harmonious Jungle Objectives:

The regeneration and conservation of ecosystems and the implementation of an Ecological Sanctuary in the Vale da Esteva.

The name
Harmonious Jungle

We chose the name Harmonious Jungle because we intend to create an area of harmony and diversity in the Vale da Esteva, where different species of plants and animals co-exist and interact in a virtuous cycle of sustainability in its ecosystems.

At Harmonious Jungle, good environmental practices result in a sustainable and balanced way of life, in which people live in harmony with nature and use its resources responsibly and ethically.

In a “Harmonious Jungle”, each species plays an active role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems. The plants provide food and habitat for animals, while the animals help pollinate the plants and spread their seeds and decompose organic matter for nutrient development in the soil and in water courses. This interdependence promotes a dynamic and diverse ecosystem, which is capable of adapting and responding to changes in the environment.

Harmonious Jungle also aspires to serve as a reflection of the relationship between people and nature, whereby through respect and strong environmental awareness, the protection and conservation of the planet is championed to future generations.

Good Environmental Practice

Small steps

We use less energy

We switch off electronic appliances when not in use, use LED bulbs, take advantage of natural light, and opt for more energy-efficient equipment.

We use less water

We turn off the tap when brushing our teeth, use the washing machines and dishwashers only when they are full, and take shorter showers and baths.

We recycle.

We separate waste into recyclable and organic waste and ensure that each type of material is disposed of appropriately.

We reuse things.

We breathe a second life into objects and materials that would otherwise have been thrown away, such as packaging, bottles, paper, etc.

We buy sustainable products.

We opt for products which have a lower impact on the environment and organic products made from recycled or biodegradable materials.

We avoid food waste.

We plan meals, store food correctly, and use leftovers to make new recipes.

We prefer sustainable transport.

We use less polluting means of transport such as bicycles, public transport, and, where possible, electric cars.

We plant and protect trees.

Trees are important for air purification, climate regulation, and soil conservation, as well as providing food and shelter for animals.

We organise environmental conservation initiatives for the protection of the environment in our region.

Cristina Levine Martins Xavier de Sousa

CEO, INVESTOR & DREAMER

Psychologist. Cristina has a Master’s degree in Religious Sciences and has developed projects in the areas of Socio-Environmental Education, Eco-sustainable Development, and Animal Protection.

Founder of Harmonious Jungle and mentor for the Strategic Initiative for the Regeneration of Vale da Esteva (SIRVE).

Marta Velez Mariano de Sequeira

ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER

Marta has a degree in Hotel Management and a post-graduate qualification in Strategic Events Management. Administrative Management.

Jorge Miguel Charréu Esteves

AGRICULTURAL WORKER

Jorge has a background in Agronomy and Animal Production. He has experience in production and team management (berry and tropical fruit farms).

Pedro Oliveira Branco

PARK RANGER

Professional videographer and photographer. He became interested in agroecology 15 years ago and started experimenting with it.
